Greetings...I have been in search of the needed parts to power the room sliders that I want to construct for an MCI 102 A3. The rooms, three I hope, will be built from 2x2 steel or aluminum and when completed will weigh in the neighbborhood of 1500 to 2000 lbs each. My thought was to guide them in and out on steel or rubber rollers with bearings. Power to be supplied by 12/24 volt motor on a rack and pinion delivery system or by pneumatic cylinders with steel or rubber rollers for guidence. Is this a foolish idea or will it work? The two large rooms will be approx. 14'6L x 2'10D x 6'2H and fitted into the livingroom/ diningroom/kitchen area. The smaller of the three will be in the rear as a bedroom addition. Is it feasible to have two large openings in a monocoque framework so close together? I realize the need for substantial framework upgrading surrounding the area, but am I asking for too much? Best Regards, kudu

Sounds like it should work to me. An MCI 102 has a frame so you should be fine. I've seen sliders put in MCI's before. Just don't try it on an RTS. You might be able to use a cable drive and not have the expense of a rack and pinion.
